No problem....I have a habit of speaking a little to quickly on message boards. They probably just realized how goofy of logic it was. Call me an apologist but I honestly believe a lot of their thinking is what they actually think and has little to do with greed. Except for things that you can make pretty clear assumptions on like the molestation thing.

Children - Just a thought
by MidwichCuckoo inwas it 1938 when faithful jws were first instructed recommended not to have children?
...mark the words of jesus, which definitely seem to discourage the bearing of children immediately before or during armageddon....it would therefore appear that there is no reasonable or scriptural injunction to bring children into the world immediately before armageddon, where we now are.
" (watchtower, nov. 1, 1938, p. 324) the wt was relatively in its early days (compared to mainstream religion), and had already gone through a lot of change.

It seemed to me from your post that you were trying to imply there was some conspiracy going on. That the leaders felt they could keep together if they played the Armageddon angle. More then likely though they actually believed in what they were saying. It probably had nothing to do with some diabolical plot to pull the wool over peoples eyes.

Why does everything HAVE to be some evil conspiracy theory? There is a greater possibility they actually believed it was the end times.

Caught a ride to work from my Mom. We heard on the radio a plane hit the towers. I remember making the offhand comment, "they might as well tear those things down". Little did I know about 2 hours later I would be witnessing it myself. I never understood the "never forget" slogan. Who would ever forget such a horrific event? Wouldn't it be good if we could forget? We shouldn't forget the reason that caused it, but it would be nice to forget the event.

OK lets get one thing straight. She never said she would "shun" them for such a thing. She simply stated the thought crossed her mind. That being said I think she was just simply stating her thought process, so no need to harp on feelings that aren't there on her.
I completely agree with skeeter on this. It reminds me of my first roommate who had a cute little daughter. She would let her wear whatever she wanted. Usually a Snow White Halloween outfit. I thought it was great. Kids should have fun. Also since when is a mohawk ghetto or part of a gang? That was a old 80's stereotype. Get with the 21rst century yo.

OMG! OMG! OMG! My DAD has the Sept KM QB part!! We have been....
by oompa ine-mailing back and forth for days about the qb, and he only told me today that he had not even noticed anything new or different about this material until i had brought it up.
he says it would be "absurd" to think the fds mean all literature and web sites other than the wt ones are not to be used for anything, but that the context of the article needs to be taken into consideration.
that the context is key.

Will be with my parents tomorrow since grandma is in town. I might even go to the meeting with them just to hear it for myself!

Bad things you did when you were a bad little JW!
by Wordly Andre ini've done a lot of bad things when i was in high school, i remember one time in 9th grade, my friends and i ditched school, went to the local mcdonalds, we were hanging out in the parking lot smoking, when this station wagon pulls up, a bunch of jw's out in service, and my mom is with them!
so funny now that i look back but back then i thought well this will be the last time i ever see my friends.
ok what are some of your bad little jw stories.

One of the really bad things I remember was, smoking pot during a hall build and walking around stoned out of my mind. This was when I was 16. Another time me and some friends partied all night, we showed up about 3 hours late for the DC and wreaked of alcohol! I slept during the whole thing and was totally unapologetic!

Did you make a sandwich out of the roast beef, or just touch it?

Some things to keep in mind. Being gay and in the organization it was probably an extreme step to finally come to grips with who you are. So the question has to be raised, do you want to be proud of who you are and what you stand for? Or are you fine with it being a private matter? Something tells me you don't feel like having to hide it overtly. It can be scary to confront those trying to hold you back emotionally. It also though is a freeing experience to be able to stand tall for who you are and not what they expect you to be. My friend, this is all your choice. I would suggest if you go through with talking to the P.O. have your girlfriend there for emotional support these things can be tough alone. If the P.O. won't allow that just politely tell him it's going to be on your terms and not theirs. If they go through with "discipline" at least you know you stood for who you are.
